Description
This wooden sailing vessel with an extremely rare rig was built in 1892 at the New England Co. shipyard in Bath, where it is seen at the dock.
OLYMPIC was generally described as a bark, but had two square-rigged masts and two fore-and-aft rigged masts. She has sometimes been called a jackass bark (probably not said kindly).
OLYMPIC is thought to be the only sailing vessel built with this rig. Her dimensions were 1469 gross tons, register length 244.4 feet. She lasted into the 1920s.
